I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Josie and Shane Dean fell in love instantly and married after only knowing each other for three weeks. And true to fashion, Josie knew hardly anything about Shane. So when Shane disappears two months into the marriage, Josie has no leads on how to find him. Now two years later she gets the call that Shane’s in the hospital and has forgotten his past. Forgotten Sins by Rebecca Zanetti starts with a bang!

So with no where to look for Shane, Josie moves on with her live, transfers to a new city within her company trying to make a new life for herself after being abandoned once again. See Josie is a product of the foster care system. We never really learn what happened to put her there, but she has learned that no one she loves sticks around. Now that her husband has shown up, no memory, she wants him to sign the divorce papers and leave so she can start a new life and kindle a relationship with a local construction contractor.

Josie learns from Detective Malloy that Shane has amnesia and that he obviously was in a fight recently. Add to that there are three dead bodies in the morgue. When Josie takes him home, brutal attacks seem to follow Shane and he seems to think he is the only one who can protect her. Throw in that Detective Malloy knows the dots aren’t connecting with Shane’s story and the local contractor, Tom, is pushing Josie for more to the point she moves in with him after the attack.

Now there is a lot of story lines going on here and crises crossing left and right. Josie is an accountant who has taken over some accounts that have a lot of discrepancies. Add that Shane has no memory of his past, but is getting senses that no normal man has like hearing conversations blocks away. Josie is also in a competition for a promotion with a guy who comes off egotistical one time and helpful other times. You never know which way to turn, who’s in on it and who is just a nobody. It all adds up to a suspenseful ride to the end.

As Shane starts to remember, slowly, we learn he hasn’t had a great life. A test tube baby, groomed to be the ultimate soldier. Genetically altered, trained since birth, and never being able to have a life except for what the commander wants. With each group of kids, they all have the same father and are genetically linked by eye color. Since the series is called Sin Brothers, you can guess there will be brothers in subsequent novels.

Shane is the alpha man through and through, protecting the woman he knows he loves, but doesn’t understand why he left. Josie is a perfect counterpart to him. Neither had a real family life, so loving each other makes them complete. And just because Josie can’t shoot a gun worth heck, doesn’t make her a wimp. She can kick ass with the best of these brothers.

It is amazing that I didn’t read this book sooner! Filled with action packed fighting scenes, love scenes that rocked my world and ultra alpha men being brought to their knees by equally alpha women…oh, la la!
