I received this book for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Hope Flames is the first novel in a new series by Jaci Burton called Hope. Based on a small town named Hope, we will be getting to know about a lot of families, friends and all the wonderful parts of small town life.

Veterinarian Emma Burnett has returned home to Hope to take over the veterinary clinic after the last vet decides to retire. Getting a slightly later than life start on her career, Emma has put past secrets to rest and is ready to make a new life. One that doesn’t include a man.

Luke McCormack isn’t expecting a sexy vet to patch up his dog, Boomer, but that is exactly what he got. Burned by a bad divorce, Luke has determined he won’t settle down and dating isn’t his thing. One night stands with the local ladies is all he wants.

Circumstances keep throwing these two together from a break-in at the clinic to a date just as friends to even Emma’s parents throwing them together. The two decide to just have fun. No commitments. Not a relationship. But with each meeting, the two grow into a relationship neither will admit to having.

The past catches up with Emma and Luke has to decide if he is willing to give up his heart.

The romance was sweet and not quite as over the top with sex that I have gotten used to in previous Burton books. The two spend just as much time outside the bedroom as in it. There are a manage of dogs from Boomer, Daisy and Annie to name a few.

We meet a slew of secondary characters that lead us to believe they will all get their own stories soon. I would have liked to see more of Molly, Emma’s sister, but that is building up into her own book with a certain local boy.

A totally sweet and sexy new series from Jaci Burton that will get an auto-buy from me!

Do you find a man who owns and cares for a dog sexy? What if he is also a cop?
