I came by this book last night while looking for book deals, like I really needed more to read It was free so I instantly grabbed it and started reading. Finishing in record time because it truly is a “quickie” book.

The premise is that terrorist let loose a virus that attacks women’s DNA. It was supposed to just make the women submissive, but it went further and ended up killing a huge amount of the female population on earth. Now women need medicine to keep it at bay as scientist work on a cure. There are a few women who were immune to it and they are nabbed up and experimented on. There is a Claiming law in the US that allows a group of men to claim one woman as their wife and share her. The women have no choice in the matter, so a lot of them have gone into hiding.

The series kicks off with Cate and Jude, who were high school lovers but Jude goes off with his brothers to fight the war. The virus was released in Afghanistan so of course the world is at war with each other over it. Jude and his brothers are coming home and Jude makes a claim for Cate. Cate on the other hand isn’t going to share herself with anyone. She steals a boat and heads out to get away from all the men, hoping to sell the boat to buy enough medicine to hide out forever.

The book opens with Jude finding Cate under the assumption he is “claiming” her. Both are still in love with each other, but Jude hides a devastating secret from Cate of her fate. One of Jude’s brothers is missing and presumed dead, but another family has proven that theory wrong. In exchange for information on where their brother is, they have to give them Cate. But Jude is having a hard time with the knowledge he is going to have to give up Cate to a brutal family other than his own. And even the thought of his brothers making love to Cate is more than he wants to deal with on a good day.

The sex is pretty good, I just am not into a man being tied up so much. I skimmed that scene as it wasn’t as interesting to me as all the other scenes. Both Cate and Jude get a chance at being tied down and made love too…equal opportunity? They talk about the brothers taking her all together as in claiming she must be triple penetrated. Yep, that’s right, claiming tells them exactly what they have to do and it sounded like some of it had to be video taped.

Now, I love the premise of the female population dwindling and the need to save the world. It just didn’t seem that this was the concept. It was all about relieving mens needs. So we are back to the concept that men can’t live without sex? I just don’t buy it. I really could have seen this premise make a bigger book with twists and turns, but it was short and kind of incomplete in the little bits of information we get.

For a free book, it was ok. I don’t think I would pay to read this as it really is short. So if you need a book, but don’t have the money to buy one, this is a good one to pick.
